Infection control at our surgeries

The majority of patients when asked about infection control in a survey thought that the practice they went to was ok because the dentist wore gloves, masks an had eye protection. Practicing good infection control are more than just these simple measures. A lot of what we do in infection control occurs before and after you leave the surgery. It also includes education, safe work practices and quality assurance.

At Apex we support the National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) guidelines of Universal precautions. In principal we treat all our patients as if they have infectious disease. They are many people in the community who feel healthy and well, yet may have any number of viral or bacterial infections but not aware. By treating everyone the same we provide the highest level of protection for all our staff.

• At Apex, we strictly adhere to the infection control protocols which comply with regulatory standards.

• All instruments and hand-pieces are sterilised by autoclaving for each and every patient. They are individually sealed before use.

• Regular monitoring of the sterilization process is part of quality assurance.

• Where possible, single-use disposable items are used. All disposable items are discarded according to environment protection guidelines.
